Last evening, I heard a useful but disturbing radio report about an organized effort by certain religionists to plant so-called Christian journalists in major media outlets. The report was broadcast on Reality Now, a program broadcast locally and sponsored by the journalism department of St. Louis' Webster University.
According to the report, far-right wing persons claiming to be Christian are demanding the placement of like-minded persons on the staffs of media organizations. The effect of this is already apparent at Fox News Channel. Apparently, the effort extends beyond Fox News. The movement has strong ties to those who believe in the goofy idea that the book of Revelation says the world of 2006 is in the "end times."
Such a kooky view leads to all kinds of other conclusions. One conclusion these people have made is that for the sake of the salvation of the world, they must begin a take-over of the media.
To most of us, this sounds crazy. But the movement is real. It must be taken seriously. I will post more as I found out more.
