Here is a video which is a good oration on the President's foreign policy. While I don't agree with everything here, namely the policy toward Russia, the President at least articulates quite well his view on the necessity of what we can call a smart foreign policy as opposed to one based largely on military action.
This press conference response was an occasion to show why we must not elect jingoistic people to the White House in 2016, and there are many of them on the Republican side. One of the President's most practical points is that the American people don't want a boatload of foreign military escapades. We have had plenty of those all throughout the 20th century and into the 21st. The people decided in 2008 and again in 2012 we didn't need more of the same, that it was time for a smarter foreign policy. While we haven't gotten it in every case, and the President admits that, we have had a decidedly different focus -- a focus more beneficial to American interests in the long run.
