Web Log Purpose

A web log based on the principle that a civilized society deserves democratic government based on integrity. The premise here is the U.S. democracy has effectively been subverted by oligarchical forces which must be opposed with facts and rational thought. (An RSS feed is recommended.)

Media Double Standard: the Clinton Impeachment v. the Trump Impeachment Inquiry

Regardless of the supposed impossibility of Republicans urging Trump to resign (and I have my questions about how impossible this might be), I nevertheless agree with the article hyper-linked below, that newspapers should at this time seriously consider urging the resignation of Trump.  No matter how unlikely such a resignation might seem now, by the time the entire impeachment process plays out, it may no longer seem so far-fetched.  Remember, it took over two years after the break-in at the Watergate Hotel for Richard Nixon to resign.

Nixon resigned because he could no longer lead.  That is, he resigned because he had to.   And perhaps he also wanted to preserve his honor.

As the following article makes clear, the press at this time is being inconsistent.   Yes, perhaps they are concerned about their bottom lines.  But there is such a thing as trying to preserve their own honor.   It isn't too late for the press to do the right thing and recommend the resignation of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States.
