A power once considered too awesome to be delegated to one person-- the power to make war -- is rapidly becoming a sacred cow in the media. The New York Times leads the way with recent mealy-mouthed comments leaving the reader wondering whether it is really right to question the President on an issue such as torture.
May one say reading much of the current press is torture? I think that can be stated without a trace of humor in many cases. I find myself more and more like Tom Jefferson who in his retirement stopped reading newspapers and took up classic literature. Am I old enough to do that?
