Any responsible group trying to stop Trump now deserves support. (By responsible, I am thinking of Bill Kristol and the Republican foreign policy establishment, for examples.)
Events continue to move quickly.
But events are not necessarily moving in Trump's favor. My research shows there is sufficient turmoil within the Trump campaign organization for one to hope for an implosion. But we must help those implosive forces.
What we have is a march toward tyranny. America so far has been ever so fortunate to have been able to maintain a republican form of government. But democracies, though they can be long-lived, don't necessarily have an everlasting shelf life. (See my sister blog The Musical Patriot for an important Andrew Sullivan article on the history of tyrannies.)
Make no mistake: Trump has the tyrant's mindset and method of operation. The biggest danger now is not so much what Trump does, but what good people fail to do. Please, dear reader, do not think you are unimportant. In my journey to get to where I am now I have had so many demurs. I cannot believe I am involved in my own small way trying to stop a tyrant from taking over the reigns of American government. But this is indeed what the times have come to.
Soon I will have a list of things the average person can do. For now, I encourage you to pray to whatever Deity you trust in for guidance. Then read all you can through search engines, avoiding as much as possible all defeatist material. Also, of course, avoid material advocating personal harm.
Then find ways to oppose Trump. A few suggestions have already been made by me. I will have more in coming days. We can and must stop Trump now. Our very way of life depends on what we do now.
