It stands to reason that voters should have a basic knowledge of American government, such as knowing what the Bill of Rights is. Yet vast numbers do not have the basic facts.
Such knowledge used to be included in every high school curriculum. Thus voters could be presumed to have a basic working knowledge of government.
However, this is no longer the case. Perhaps it is time to ensure voters do have this knowledge.
